Australian Navy Frigate Docks at Ream

Sihanoukville: For the first time since 2016, a Royal Australian Navy ship has docked in Sihanoukville. It’s part of Australia’s flagship regional engagement activity, called the IndoPacific Endeavour.

HMAS Anzac is staying for three days in the Kingdom as part of a series of activities Australia is conducting to promote peace, cooperation and partnerships throughout the region. The frigate has delivered 800kg of medical and personal protective supplies to help Cambodia combat Covid-19. The supplies have been delivered to Sihanoukville hospitals and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

The crew of the HMAS Anzac will spend the next few days conducting an online seminar with the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces under the theme “Women, Peace and Security”. The Australian Embassy says, “The visit provides an opportunity to build naval cooperation and exchange ideas on women’s peace and security.”
